PRESS RELEASE

We welcome all visitors and travelers who have already arrived to our beautiful island and those who are going to come in the next days. We hope to have you all a pleasant stay.

As you know, in our country the government has taken strict measures not only to prevent but also to reduce to the minimum the contagion of Coronavirus (COVID- 19). Patmos is not the exception to the rule because there are many citizens who belong to the most vulnerable groups, such as older adults and people with chronic illness.

Furthermore, the only one health service in the island ( Health Center) has inadequate staffing level for such a long time and it needs medical supplies as well.

For this reason, I personally appeal for your understanding and support because during your stay in the island , you have to be extremely careful.

It is our obligation to follow the orders and guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health:

1. We try to limit our outings and we choose to stay home. We avoid public meetings and large gatherings of people and we are mindful of our contacts with the most vulnerable groups. If we have been abroad recently or if we have visited a place where have been reported confirmed positive cases in coronavirus, we stay home isolated at least for 14 days.
2. If our body temperature rises, feel sick and develop fever or at least one of the following symptoms: cough or shortness of breath, we stay home and we call the Health Center: 2247360000 or the Healthline’s number : 1135.
3. If we belong to the most vulnerable groups, we stay home and we do not visit public areas. We also do not visit hospitals, health centers or patients for no reason.
4. For our own well-being, we avoid touching our face. If we sneeze or cough, we have to cover our mouth or sneeze and cough into our elbow. We wash our hands often with soap and water and we use alcohol solution.

These simple health measures are essential to protect ourselves and  to make our fellow-beings feel safe, especially those who are at higher risk.
